Season 10, Ep. 3 - Swing

Swing

To start, I saw a commercial on USA for SVU the other day; it mentioned flirting with your partner and it had the scene from Choreographed, with Liv and Elliot in the elevator. The commercials they come up with on USA are pretty funny, especially for SVU and CI. Oh, and the Presidential debates were on every channel last week. Such a bummer.

Well, it seems that Elliot and Kathy still have some things to work out this season. Of course, Kathleen isn't helping, but it felt like there was more going on there. It must be really hard to have such a big family and have a job that keeps you away so much of the time. But we know that home life is stressful for him, so he probably stays away more - but if he wasn't away so much maybe his home life wouldn't be so stressful. Lol. But the whole think with Elliot's mother - - I don't know. It seemed like they were trying to fit a whole family history in one episode; first with Elliot and then with Olivia. You would thing that since Elliot grew up with his mother like that, that he may have noticed it in his own daughter. Maybe he was trying to push aside the truth - it would certainly add to the stress at home - avoiding the issues.

It is good that Olivia was there for him; willing to stay and help. I guess that after eleven years (I had forgotten it had been that long - they might as well be married) it is second-nature. I was so excited when Olivia went to see Elliot's mother. Ha! I had to laugh when Bernadette said something like: I can see why you scare the pants off Kathy. Liv certainly didn't have to go that far to help. And she told him like it was: "Kathleen may be sick, but you're the one with the problem." He took it better than I thought he would. But, I guess after eleven years, they should be able to take criticism from each other. I think he did the right thing, giving the necklace back, knowing what it would bring - yet knowing it was for the best (but didn't he say he had given that necklace to Kathleen for her birthday?).

I loved the end!!

Elliot: What just happened?

Olivia: Maybe God remembered how cute you were as a carrot.

Season 10, Ep. 2 - Confessions

Well, it wasn't as dramatic for Elliot this week as I thought it was going to be. I mean it was insane that that man had pictures of El's daughter, but I thought it was going to be about his other daughter and her boyfriend and the credit card. But, like Fin said, he did show some restraint or that man would have been dead. We've seen him do worse. He kept pretty calm too, when he saw the picture. I can't imagine what was going through his mind. That guy was a creep. It must have been hard for Cragen too, cause he must know how Elliot felt.

There was a lot of focus on Olivia. This case really effected her and she still looked tired. I think that fact that only people who have already committed a crime are eligible to get help really made her mad. It doesn't seem right that we are too busy with the bad guys to help those who are on the verge, especially when they need help. So, I guess the kid wasn't innocent in the end though. At least, that is how I think it all ended. I was a little confused for a minute and while I was figuring it all out I may have missed something.

To the new A.D.A. - Don't harp on Casey! She did what she had to do. And what was it with her and her whole "squeeze her 'til she pops" speech? Was Cabot and Novak that annoying their first few weeks on the job? I guess I didn't like Novak at all when she first started, but this new girl (I don't remember her name) needs to loosen up. It's not like there have been three male A.D.A.s before her and she has something to prove by being female!

And no new episode next week! What is up with that? It is a little early in the season for them to be running short on episodes. Or is there something happening on NBC next week? I don't know, but either way, I waited all summer for new eps and now this. It's only one week, I know . . .

I have been watching this show for a while and the cases are all pretty disturbing, but there was something about this one that hit me. Maybe it was because Olivia even seemed more effected than usual. Pedophiles are definitely the worst of the bunch. There are just so many evil things in the world that it is very sad. I don't understand how people can be so cruel to other human beings, but to force yourself on someone. I totally understand how SVU cops usually only stay in the division for two years. And how could you ever trust someone? How many times has the perv been someone that the victim knew or trusted? It has to, at the least, strain relationships. We have seen it over and over again in both Liv and Elliot's lives.

Season 10 is here!!

Season 10, Ep. 1 - Trials

The day we have all been waiting for has finally come and gone (until next week). I can't say that it was a great episode, but I have renewed faith in the writers. Why? Because they finally made Olivia realize that she has to face the fact that she was almost raped. I was afraid that they weren't going to bring it up again. At the end of last season I started writing a FF about Olivia and what would happen when she finally couldn't take it any more. Of course I like my version, but at least they addressed it. At the beginning of the episode when she said that she hadn't gotten much sleep, I knew something was up and was excited to see what was happening. When Cragen sent her home early, I was happy and sad at the same time when she started having flashbacks from Undercover. I was afraid though, that she was gonna be all tough about it and keep trudging on. But after she talked to Caitlyn, I knew there was no way that she would let herself crumble like that. Even though I knew that, I didn't think that she would get help right away. I am interested to see how often they address it in future episodes. I really, really hope she says something to Elliot. From the look of next week's episode, they won't be doing much talking, 'cause he will have a lot on his mind already.

I was I'm kinda mad that Fin wants to leave. It seemed sorta out of the blue. Or is it just me? I know it was hard for him in Undercover too, but I don't remember him saying anything about wanting to leave. And why didn't anyone say anything about Lake? Not that I ever really paid him much noticed, but he was arrested. And go figure that Elliot's stolen credit card comes back to his daughter's boyfriend. I don't have any kids, so I don't know how he feels about his family, but I don't like them. Next week's episode is gonna be pure angst, I can feel it. There seems to be nothing but trouble whenever his family is around. And though I think that he and Olivia would be good for each other, I don't necessarily thing they should hook up. They are good friends, and I miss the relationship they had in the first few seasons. It seems that so much stuff has come between them and they have let it build up because they don't want to face it; maybe thinking that it is better left alone. But they need that friendship, it keeps them sane.

I want Casey back!! That's another thing they didn't address. Yeah, they told us she was leaving, but I wanted a little bit more than that. The new A.D.A. - I don't know what I think. The first few episodes are going to be weird, because she is new; new to them and new to us. She is trying to prove that she deserves the position and I think it is going to be annoying at first. So, I am not going to judge her yet. Give her time. Hey, she noticed that Olivia wasn't in there . . .

Inconceivable (Jan 22)

First of all - I haven't seen Unorthodox yet.

Wow . . . I loved this episode. I was SO crying when Liv and El were talking in front of the elevator about Liv being turned down for adoption! The whole episode was building to this moment - you knew something was coming. I was tensed the whole ep, especially when Liv walked by El and, what did she say? Idiot? Anyway, it was priceless, yet was building. For Olivia Benson fans this was incredible in delving into character. Especially when you know how awesome she is with kids. I just want to know if they are going to go anywhere with that. I would think that they would have to, because it was such a huge revelation.

On the whole - the case was quite disturbing. The mother who wanted to have her daughter's child! Yikes. But did anyone notice that the lady who had cancer was the lady from Burn Notice? Well, she was also in "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken" - about the girl who jumps into the pool with her horse. Anyone else love that movie?

Anyway. I have clips from this ep I just haven't uploaded them yet. But will post the link asap.

This was really a heartbreaking episode. Some of the scenes where Liv and Agent Cooper walk into the suspects place and find the tortured woman! OMG It is just horrible. There is so much emotion coming from Liv.

The sad thing about this ep is that there was no EL!!!! Mayday!
When Lake and Liv walked into Cooper's apartment you just knew something was going to happen, but when IT did, my first thought was "What is Elliot? Liv needs him!" I know, I am obsessed. LOL. It was good that Lake and Warner were there, but she needed her man. Each episode, even before Paternity, Liv has been cracking. This episode is really going to have an affect on her. Mariska did such a great job - that whole scene was such a heartbreaker! (I used it as the opening of my new SVU - Liv video)

I don't know if this link will work, but this is the breakdown scene: Signature

Streetwise (Jan 1)

I thought that since I have a few minutes, I should catch up with the new eps for this season.
So, up next is "Streetwise"

This ep was great . . . a classic SVU - back to the basics - case (even though there wasn't much EO going on). The reality of people living on the street is humbling, especially when we think about how often we complain about how we wish we had this or that.

The scene with Liv and El when they are trying to get the girl to talk, so they bring in all this great looking food - is priceless! I loved it. I don't remember seeing them eat a lot on the show (I remember a hoggie in like season 1).
It was just a cute EO scene.

The twist at the end was more proof that this was a classic L&O episode.

My first SVU video is done!

I have been working on a few SVU videos, but none of the songs have really hit me. You know, you have to have just the right song in order to be really motivated to work on the video. Not that the show isn't good enough on its own, but THE PERFECT song adds so much. So, I decided that the first one that I had to get finished has to be an Olivia Benson video . . . so here it is: "Everything Burns" You can watch it here or go to YouTube! Hope you enjoy.

<lj-embed id="1" />

Just A Few More Days!

I am really excited to finally get a new ep of SVU. So, I went on TV.com to see if the new ep's title was up yet. I was very disappointed to see that it was not, so I am a little worried about there actually being a new ep on Tuesday. Anyway, I was looking at the ratings that this season's episodes have received . . . not good. I think that the lowest was a 3.6 (out of 10) and the highest was a 6.5. That is really bad. I have missed one or two eps from this season, but the ones I saw were good, not 9 or 10, but definately not an average of 5! I will blame it on the Writer's Strike. I think people are comparing it to the other Law & Order shows, and it just isn't the same, that is why I like this one better. It is more personal than just about the cases. I really don't want to delve into that issue. So, Tuesday night there may be, and there may not be a new post about the new ep.

Two Weeks Without a New Ep!

It has been a rough couple weeks. [[Since there has not been a new episode in two weeks, this post is merely a rambling on about TV]] If it wasn't finals week I would not know what to do with myself. I can't say that I blame the writers for going on strike, but I hope it doesn't last long. The season finale is going to be here before we know it and I don't want it to be something stupid just because there aren't any good writers. If we are over-run with reality TV I am going to be the one going on strike!! I HATE reality TV. But it's popularity is an indication that our society today is going downhill. We are not forced, or even encouraged, to think anymore. We just sit in front of the TV and watch girls fight over a guy. I am not saying that all the shows you watch should be educational, but why would you want to watch something like "BigBrother" or "The Real World"? I don't understand. And as for "Survivor" and "The Amazing Race" - I don't have as much against those, as well as "America's Next Top Model" but after 9 plus seasons it gets pretty old. And I know that as time passes is increasingly harder to creat shows that are original, but why change? Law and Order:SVU has been on for nine years (and the original series longer than that) and there are none that are the same. These shows on today, last one season and that is it. It is because they don't find a solid base, there is no good writing. WE NEED THE WRITERS BACK!

Snitch : A Not-So-Bad Follow-Up

Snitch has some good scenes and brings SVU back to some good solid storytelling. After watching Paternity, I couldn't wait to see how Elliot and Olivia acted around each other in the next episode. I must say that I was pleased to see that they were fairly normal. And over-all, I enjoyed the episode (there were definately a few good EO moments). Such as: The immigration officer and Elliot? Huh? I loved Olivia's reaction. I wasn't even paying attention to what was being said, I just watched Olivia's face! Priceless. I think she was way more confused than me. And Elliot's nonchalant attitude was great too. I can't wait to see if Olivia addresses that later. I also liked Olivia's change in wardrobe. She seemed to be dressed more casual, and less professional (I must say I love the haircut!).

I guess I didn't say anything about the case (I don't remember what it was about, I was too busy paying attention to EO). The polygamy twist was interesting, as was the fact that it was Sarah (was that her name?) who killed Nikki.

The "Liv's Confusion" Scene

What an absolutely incredible episode of Law & Order: SVU!! I haven't stopped talking about it since it aired last night. I am a huge EO shipper and wasn't sure how it was gonna turn out, but the last scene was one of the best EO moments ever. The only bad thing about it was that it was only on once, and I like to watch good things more than that. And the next time that it airs isn't until Saturday, and I so did not want to wait that long to watch the EO moment.Thankfully, someone uploaded it to YouTube and I think I have watched it like 20 times...seriously. It is just that good. It had me going from crying to almost fuming to laughing and back to crying. But to get the totaly effect you really need to watch the whole ep, but since I have seen it, I just watch it and smile. A big smile!

After an ep like that there was definate need of a support group, so we set up a chat and were talking for a couple hours. It was awesome. FF.net is going to be swarming with stories after that, and I think there were already five when I checked this morning. People were busy last night!
