Thinking about all the elements that make this show so incredible is overwhelming. The writers created a timeline of events that keeps you engaged, laughing, and on edge; they managed to tie all four seasons together to map out some remarkable character development and sci-fi action.

I thought I would hit on a few things that I really liked about the show as a whole without spoiling anything! I love suspense and some thrills, con movies with twists, romances and comedy, and angst (I thrive on shows with angst), but this show has put new limits on how much of these things I can handle. This is a twisted show! The storylines are twisted, the villains are twisted, and the pain you go through is twisted. This show takes you to the breaking point, pushes a little bit further and then pulls back. I don’t say this to discourage you! This is what makes this show so great and so interesting. The writers were able to take a common storyline and twist it into something spectacular. You never know what to think when it comes to this show. Just when you think you have seen it all, they throw in a Wiley E Coyote inspired episode, and there is even an episode that reminds me of Super Mario! It may sound weird, but it totally works with where the storyline is going at that point in the show!

Character development is my favorite part to talk about and will be what most of the character entries will be about. Though the story of a show is important to me, if the characters don’t change, I become bored. This has happened with several shows. I think that writers often think too much about getting viewers interested in the story of a show, which works, but forget that what keeps the story moving are the characters. I think that all of the characters in this show develop over the course of their appearance.

On my first viewing, I was hesitant to continue because of the aliens. My previous experience with science fiction does include some alien/non-human characters (Star Trek’s Worf, Stargate’s Asgard, Star Wars’ C-3PO and R2-D2, BSG’s cylons); however, Farscape’s main cast has 5 aliens and 2 humans (I know Aeryn is a Sebacean, but she looks human) and 2 of those aliens are puppets! The writers and the Creature Shop did an amazing job, because after only a few episodes, I saw the character rather than the alien/puppet. It’s like when you see a well done SFX scene--you don’t see the special effects - you see the action. I would love to get more into this, but I will save it for the actual posts about them.

Basically....you really have to give this show a try! I really had to get passed the 2nd episode and I was hooked!

I will be following this post up with individual posts about the characters, but I would love to hear what other people thought of the show as a whole!

I really have to stop saying that I am not a sci-fi girl, because I totally am! I like Star Wars (the original 3), Star Trek (TNG mostly), Stargate (SG-1 is my favorite but Atlantis was good and I am currently on season 1 of Universe), Farscape, Sanctuary, Battlestar Galactica, and I am sure there are more (and those are just the TV shows, nevermind the list of movies). Anyway, I am planning on writing up some crazy obsessed blog entries about Farscape and its amazing group of characters.

Instead of doing episode by episode reviews, I am going to write a blog entry about each character. You are welcome to agree/disagree with any of the ideas that you read. I am always open to a little friendly debate. I have done absolutely no writing for like 2 months and I can feel my brain melting from under-use. WAY too much TV watching going on in my spare time!

Sanctuary update: I am going through some serious Sanctuary withdrawal right now, so I may be doing a Sanctuary rewatch (yes another one) over February break, which will help me catch up on all those episodes that still need to be reviewed.

THE PLAN: February break (2/18-2/26) begins the Sanctuary rewatch, so that leaves me with 2 1/2 weeks to pound out these Farscape entries!!

Let the insanity begin!! Also, it looks like I need to make some Farscape icons!

So, Downton Abbey is a new favorite show of mine!! I came across an article that said if you like Downton Abbey, you might like "The House at Tyneford" by Natasha Solomons. I think it sounds interesting, but was wondering if anyone else had read it.

I have started watching Farscape several times but just kept getting distracted by other shows. Though I do like sci-fi shows, Sanctuary is really the only show that I watch that has weird creatures in it, so Farscape might take a little getting used to. Anyway, I got an Amazon gift card for Christmas and found the complete series on sale. Got it in the mail today, just in time for New Years. It is going to take a couple days to get through 4 seasons. Good thing I don't have to go back to work until Tuesday. I will keep you all updated as I go. Feel free to comment and let me know your thoughts on the show!!

"The Beast Within: Interview with Sanctuary's Christopher Heyerdahl"
This article was brought to my attention yesterday, but I didn't read it until today. It really helps to clear up some of my thoughts (and concerns) about John's obvious absence from this season.

"Once Upon A Time" is a new favorite! If you haven't checked it out, you really should. I didn't start watching it at first, because I thought that it was going to be corny. BUT IT IS SO GOOD!

For those of you who have seen it, you know that so far we have not been told which fairy tale character Sheriff Graham is.

See my Thoughts )

So, I was bored at work and decided to waste some time by messing around on Photoshop (yes, I was at work...working...but I get paid to sit at my desk and do whatever I want...I am just there to make sure the place gets locked down) Anyway, I had some free time and happen to have CS3 on my work computer AND this happened. More orange - I don't know what is with me these days.

She loves comments! And I have told her how great all my friends over here are :) I am shameless . . . I know! But I am messing up the color-coordination that I have going on on my blog to pimp her. That is how much I care.
